PTSA Board Elections: We are looking for a new treasurer and recording secretary for next school years. Terms are 1 year, renewable for a 2nd year. Please contact us at email@example.com for more information or if you are interested in serving, or know somebody else who would be willing to do so. We are not allowed to hold elections remotely, so we hope to hold an in-person meeting in the fall to elect new officers and approve the budget.
Maryland public schools will be closed for the rest of the school year. The last day for students is June 16. Teachers and staff will continue to implement distance programs, with instructional packets available for download on the PGCPS website or for pickup in limited quantities at school meal sites. The Greenbelt meal pickup site is Springhill Lake Elementary School. The meals program is on Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents may pick up meals for students who are unable to come to the site by showing a student ID or report card.
Drive-up wifi is available at ERHS.
AP exams will be online this year. See https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/courses/exam-dates-and-fees for days/times and other information. Please note that AP Exam Refunds will not be considered until after the AP Exam Make-up window. At that time, a list will be shared of students who took the exam and we will be able to accurately determine who did not and who is eligible for a refund. Those students who choose not take to the exams will automatically receive a partial refund, credited back to the original method of payment.
Here is a video that some of the ERHS staff put together for seniors, called "Six Senior Things to do Before Graduation"
GRAD NIGHT 2020!
Grad Night is a chaperoned all-night party for all graduating seniors on the night of graduation. A huge fundraising effort is needed to pay for an evening of games, food, entertainment and prizes for the students. All Senior parents are encouraged to get involved. (Junior parents are also welcome...Great way to get ready for next year's Grad Night!) Visit the Grad Night 2020 website for more information and to sign up to volunteer!
We are committed to using the funds that we raised towards celebrating and honoring the Class of 2020. We have discussed the possibility of joining efforts with the Class of 2020 to host one big event during the winter break next year, if it comes to that. We have also discussed some funds being set aside towards future reunion. When they have more clarity on the survey and the direction PGCPS wants to go with respect to putting dates on the calendar, we can brainstorm further and formulate a plan.
The Bring Change to Roose Club has opened a Wellness Room in the upper library, for use by students who need some time in a quiet space to deal with anxiety or other issues during the school day. It is staffed by the crisis intervention officer, who can give students a pass to miss class as needed.
If you are not currently on our PTSA email lists and would like to be, please email firstname.lastname@example.org giving a brief description of your connection to the school. The PTSA has two email lists:
1. Communications list for announcements; only designated board members may post messages to this list.
2. Discussion list, where any PTSA member may post questions, comments or suggestions relevant to the school or PTSA.
You can also sign up for communications from the school regarding internships, service learning opportunities, SAT/ACT prep sessions, scholarships and more:
(PTSA does not manage these lists, so please address any questions to your class administrator)
